NEW LAW EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2012!!

BEGINNING JULY 1, 2012 STUDENTS APPLYING FOR A LEARNER PERMIT WILL NEED TO TAKE A WRITTEN TEST.

We strongly recommend that a student complete the classroom or online portion prior to taking this written test. Students may take driver education at age 15 and receive a certificate of driver education (CDE). If a student is 15 they must show proof of enrollment in a driver education course (CDE). With the passing of the written test, a student would need only to pass a drive test at the school where the driving portion of driver education was completed or at any Indiana BMV that offers the skills portion (drive test).
